The role of medical protective clothing is to prevent the spread of diseases and isolate the spread of viruses. Therefore, medical clothing requires the fabric to be waterproof, blocking the penetration of liquids and particles, so as to improve the occupational safety of medical staff, and play an effective protective role against some extremely infectious bacteria and viruses, and minimize the harm.
The materials used for medical protective clothing fabrics and clothing in my country can be roughly divided into three types: coating materials, PU|TPU membrane composite materials and PTFE microporous membrane composite materials:
1. Coating materials. Most domestic enterprises use wet or dry polyurethane, polyacrylate, and polyvinylidene fluoride to coat fabrics, and then use this fabric to make protective clothing.
2. PU and TPU membrane composite materials. This composite material has a certain improvement in moisture permeability and comfort compared with coating materials.
3. PTFE microporous membrane composite material. PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene, is a high-performance polymer with high water pressure resistance, and at the same time, the micropores can discharge sweat vapor smoothly. A PTFE membrane with a suitable pore size can block bacteria and viruses. It has excellent strength, stable properties, good biological compatibility, good thermal stability, and easy molding. At present, the application in the field of medical protective clothing in my country is still in the research and trial stage. PTFE microporous film can effectively solve the two shortcomings of poor durability of coating materials, PU and TPU film composite materials, and poor moisture permeability. The disadvantage of PTFE is its high cost.
Hebei Textile Research Institute is a state-owned scientific and technological enterprise focusing on research and development. In recent years, it has been committed to the development and application of medical protective clothing fabrics. The newly launched new multifunctional medical clothing represents the development direction of the medical clothing industry.
Medical protective clothing fabrics and protective performance not only reflect the technical level of a country, but also related to the health and safety of medical workers and people. For example, the SARS virus that broke out in my country and the world in the spring and summer of 2003 threatened the lives of thousands of people, and many medical staff were infected or even killed. The isolation protective clothing developed by our institute that year was donated free of charge to medical workers fighting on the front line of the fight against SARS, which embodies the responsibility and responsibility of a state-owned technology-based enterprise. In the new era today, various unknown viruses continue to appear, which puts forward higher requirements for the personal safety of practitioners in the medical care industry. Hebei Textile Science Research Institute will continue to invest more energy, with an attitude of walking on thin ice, Continue to hold high the banner of science and technology and be a leader in research and development in the medical protection industry.
